mertric seal installation tips for sealing outside edge

I have to install a metric oil seal and these are the ones with the outer rubber covering. I tried to find one with a metal outside but no luck. With a metal outside I'd likely use locktite. My housing has a small indented spot from either casting flaw or previous damage. So I was wondering what all kinda tips I will find out here as to how to make sure this seal stays sealed and in place.

Maybe a little smear of rtv sealant into the housing, then wipe off any excess once you have the seal seated correctly.
We use the sealant on engine sumps and differential cases with no gaskets fitted, it does a great job.

I install all seals regardless of the coating with good old permatex #2 the next guy to take them out will probably cuss me, but they stay put. I know a lot of techs use a silicone product but thats too slippery and they could blow out. Works for me.
