I am a Redneck and proud of it, how about you???

You might be a redneck if: It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, 'One nation, under God..'

You might be a redneck if: You've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places.

You might be a redneck if: You still say 'Christmas' instead of 'Winter Festival.'

You might be a redneck if: You bow your head when
someone prays.

You might be a redneck if: You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem.

You might be a redneck if: You treat our armed forces veterans with great respect, and always have.

You might be a redneck if: You've never burned an American flag, nor intend to. (Except as part of a proper flag disposal!)

You might be a redneck if: You know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say so, no matter who is listening.

You might be a redneck if: You respect your elders and raised your kids to do the same.

You might be a redneck if: You'd give your last dollar to a friend.

You might be a redneck if: You believe in God & Jesus and believe that others have the right to believe in which ever God they believe in as long as their God does not tell them to kill anyone who does not believe the same as they do!!!!!

Some will say it was from early times for forming unions as those Union organizers wore red kerchiefs around their necks.

Actually it came from Scotland many years before that as a sign of religious beliefs as they wore a red band around their neck.

I`ve always been under the impression it stood for those who have gotten too much sun, hence a "red neck". Gonna have to look it up now, I guess it might not be too bad if you are right, generally them tempermental scotsmen had good notions.

Old Roy, I looked it up, and according to the much esteemed wikipedia all three definitions are correct, and at different times the term has meant different things. I guess I could still proudly call myself a redneck on all three counts.

Redneck on this side of the Atlantic was coined at Blair Mountain,Mingo Co.WV when striking Union Coal Miners wore Red Hand kerchiefs around their neck so they could be identified from the Sherrifs Posse during the 5 day battle on Blair Mountain between these opposing factions. The Sherrif was acting as accesory of the anti union Coal Mine owners who refused to negotiate a labor contract with the Miners Union.See Battle of Blair Mountain,Wikipedia.
