OT, 1995 F150 steering issue HELP

This morning on my way to work I backed out of my driveway (turning right), started driving down the road and it was constantly pulling to the right. After about 5 miles I turned left and was still pulling to the rigth until it felt like something gave and the steering was back to normal. Drove ten mile and turned right into the parking lot at work and it kind of did it again. If anybody can give me an idea where to begin it would be much appreciated. BTW the truck has about 92k miles on it and drove fine yesterday.

Well there's a few things..a soft tire can pull one way or the other,a caliper that isn't releasing can cause the brake to drag on one wheel and pull you,I've had fairly new Good Year tire fail and the cords,steel wire let go and the truck pulled right.By the mileage I wouldn't suspect a bearing but its possible.
Start with a check of the tires. After you drive it feel the wheel for excess heat,that will tell you if a brake caliper is dragging. Good luck.
 
Threads rusted off one of the tie rod ends and slipping in the tie rod. Happened to me one time on a 95 e150. Went to turn around and tie rod came out on one end. Scared the he## out of me after driving about 100 miles in interstate. Check it now. DH
 
I agree,but another thing to check for is a brake line hose breaking down inside. They often can work as sort of a check valve that keeps the caliper from releasing. I had one on a chevy do this once after i bent the hose more than normal doing a brake job. Tires i personally would suspect if it it did it constantly. Comes and goes sounds more like a brake to me. Check for loosness in the idler arm also, they are also really prone to wear. But you normally will start getting quite a bit of play in steering as they go.
 
Not unless we got a stray. I stopped half way to work and looked under the front end, nothing stood out to me as being wrong, didn't see any stressed metal, no burning brake smell, nothing. Is there some sort of valve that could stick in the power steering or something. It just seems odd that it comes and goes.
 
It is a 4 wheel drive, I will take a look at it. I would like to thank everyone for all of the input so far, I don't know as much about cars and trucks as I would like to so this is really helping. Thank you all.

I have a 96' that did that same thing just a couple of months ago. It indeed was a tie-rod end. Cheap and easy to replace, but you'll want to get it aligned afterward.
 
Power steering? Here's my guess: Could be a sticky valve in the gear or a piston seal that didn't energize right away. How many miles and has the P.S. fluid ever been changed?
 
I am a parts manager at a small Ford Store..

1 of 3 things, Tie Rod too Tight,
Ball Joint too tight, or axle joint froze up.

Knock tire rod off, & see how easy the sprindle
turns on the ball joints.

Also, every time you change your motor oil
take a squit can & coat the axle turning U
joints. That oil will prevent that from
ever happening again.....
 
Lock your 4x4 hubs and drive the truck. If it is good then you have a tight u-joint in one side front axle. If you have auto hubs put the transfer case in 4x4 and drive without any hard turns. I'm sure you will find a tight u-joint. Usually only one cap gets tight but if it is stopped at the right place it will steer hard and have memory steer. Very common problem.
 
I would be inclined to check out rla's suggestions before digging deeper.
Learnt a lesson once when I had a truck, had a flat tyre so took it off and apart, nothing. turned out to be a leaking valve.efforts wasted.
Had a tractor tyre on my Fergie the last month that kept going down, thinking about taking off. so decided to do the FIRST IA.[ex military will know that]
checked the valve, nothing, then checked the extension that is screwed to the tube, leaking, replaced the O ring, now good as gold.
Start at the base and work your way up.
 
Update on what was wrong, the ball joints, the u-joints, and the bearings in the lockable hubs for the 4wd. Thanks everyone.
