What"s the good bad and ugly on the case 1030. I found what seems to be a nice looking one with a cab for 5k seems like some cheap hp. Are they any good?
 
We have had one since it was new, grandpa bought it in 68. The bad, it is loud, the breaks are not so good, and it does not like starting in cold weather. The good, simple, economical, tough, reliable, and in the rare case (pun intended)you need parts they are avaliable and affordable. I think in a 40+ year old tractor not having a turbo or any kinda powershift is a advantage. I like mine. Did I mention it is loud ?
 
I think the first ones had only a single fan belt and ran hot on a long, hard pull (my friend's) Later ones had double belts like my 930. My 930 needed a gear in between top low range and bottom high range when planting. Doubt if that will bother you. They were good tractors,
 
i know they run real low RPMs compared to the other brands of that age. I also have heard they are loud and that they need ether assist to start below 50.
