V6 cummins diesel N140

I need help finding parts for this old v6 cummins. My granddad put this engine in his 1965 ford 250 back in the 70's. Now I'm trying to restore it and I'm having one heck of a time finding parts for it. I was told the engine came out of some sort of road grader. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Most Cummins engines I've seen have had a CPL number and information tag found on the left hand side on the timing cover. They also generally have a serial number stamped just below the block deck, often towards the rear of the engine... possibly hidden under a fuel line. I'm not familiar with that engine; mostly just N/855 and L10's.

Hello Miguel Morgan,
The cpl# as someone said already, is what you
need before you call Cummins at your local dealer with that info. Any dealer with Cummins parts should be able to tell you if they are still available
If you give me the PT pump code i can find out what H.P. engine you have.
The 140(V-352) had 3 H.P ratings: 136 H.P 134 H.P. and 130 H.P. all @3300 R.P.M.'S
Guido.

Call 1-800-306-6801. Ask for Alvis in Cummins Parts. If he is still there. He knows old Cummins Engines more than anyone I know. I think he knows more about them than Cummins does.

By no means an expert on these but pretty sure the CPL (cummins parts list) number that most Cummins parts guys consider the holy grail was located on the valve cover of the V series engines. If you google V-series or V-140 I think you'll find multiple places to buy parts as most are common with the much maligned V-8 (555) All of the V6's I've seen were either in equipment or boats, so I'm not aware of any automotive (truck) useage. Although it's entirely possible they were used on road. I believe the the N in N140 refers to Natural (non-turbo) They weren't the most reliable as I remember (piston and ring problems) but should be plenty of them floating around still. Good Luck!!

Actually, "CPL" doesn't mean "Cummins Parts list", it means "control parts list".

Of course. on this Forum, WHY would we want the facts to get in the way of "B.S."?

Thanks for all the info. I have all the numbers off of the tag on the block and I have called several parts companies including cummins. All have said the numers are no good or have no clue where to start looking. So this is what I have.
