i've got an 04 that's shifts to hard from 1'st to 2'nd also a little to firm on the 2,3 shift,shift points are ok, other than that works ok ,what could be the problem.

Get a scanner and see if there are any diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) stored... you will need to get these corrected before you can troubleshoot the transmission.

If the transmission has been swapped out, the transmission may need reprogram to the vehecle. My car does the same thing it needs to be reprogram to the car. I just put up with it.
