OT-Hay Prices in your area

What are hay prices in your area? I am in lanc county pa. A lot of horse people, and a lot of amish are combining for high prices.
Small squares of alfalfa mix are at $300+ a ton. I sold some nice 4 x5 rounds at $65 each. The hay auction reported a high of over $500 a ton for some real high quality hay. It should be an interesting winter.

Prices in South Texas are TDH.
That's Too Dam* High in case you didn't know.
$65 for a round bale is cheap. Square bales are going for as high at 11 bucks each, that's insane. I have irrigation, so the animals are on pasture (rotated) so we have been fine and have not had to pay the hay scalpers to keep them alive.

Happy with prices here, (Central WI) no questions asked on $2 a bale for grass hay here (50 lbs). 2nd crop going for higher of course. Sold our 2nd crop dairy hay off the field in July. Saturated market, but I have had the luxury of selling to really good people that appreciate the hay and the service. Hopefully they will be around down the road.

That seems a little high for round bales. Here in Ohio 15-20 bucks for cheap grass hay, 20-40 for good stuff (anywhere from 4x4,4x5,5x5 bales) Silage bales may be more but that seems like past practice anymore.

In Alaska, $8-$14 a bale for small squares of mixed grass, the feed store is up to $17 a bale, last load of Alfalfa I saw that was trucked up was $600 a ton. About standard for up here.

Out here in California we paid $225 per ton for grassy alfalfa. High test dairy hay is going for $290. A lot of hay is being exported from here.

Do you have hay for sale? or is this just general pricing? I was looking out towards pittsburgh, but I didnt find anything yet..
My email is open if you want to send me your contact info...

up the coast a bit you can change to the D to a F...i been feeding grain...was cheaper than paying $125. for 4x4 salt marsh hay...i lucked out just last week and paid $60. for 5x6 rice straw that was delivered for that...i got enuff to last till spring...if it dont start raining by then i'm done with raising cattle.

We are getting $4.75 a bale (50 lbs - they have been weighed) out of the field and $5.25 from the barn. This is really good bermuda in NC. TSC was asking (if I remember correctly) $7. This was during hay season! Their bales were lighter than ours; I would guess about 35-40 lbs.

The rice straw will function as a filler but contains little protein. I bought some and had it analyzed, protein content was 4%.
I have the bales ground up and add corn gluten, DDG, minerals, lime and molasses. The cows eat it like candy. For me the overall cost is less than the $100 a bale everyone wants and the nutritional value is higher than most hay you can buy.

Just general pricing. Southeast ohio, about 3 hours sw of pittsburg, 2 hours southeast of columbus. I actually bought some 4x5 alfalfa bales stored inside for $30- I bought some 4x6 bales that was LATE first cutting (maybe got rained on once) for $15 a bale, its making decent feed wasnt terrible, a little waste on outside edges. Im not happy with the 4x6 bales, too oblong and want to tip on flat face then they cannot be picked up.
