Well my pc hard drive crashed big time-no data recovery so I will be on parts and pieces of computers for a bit. My ip address may change too, not sure about that, but we are building a new one with more hot rod guts to handle my drawing programs. In the mean time I have to read you guys knowledge in bits and short times. Thanks, Paul in Mississippi

Yank it out and stick it in your freezer for a few hours. Then replug and retry while rapping on it before it gets warm. Often works well enough to recover and transfer the data.

hard drives have gone way up in price. something about flooding in Thailand. if you have a recovery disc then replacing the drive is not hard. you will need to know if it is a sata drive( small data cable) or ide (pata) drive(flat ribbon data cable). you may be able to find a used drive. some computer shops will sell them. if you do not have recovery disc then if you can find your version of windows( xp, vista, windows 7) on a cd then you can reload that and use your coa numbers, they are on a sticker on the side or back of the computer. the hard drive only has two cables on it, one is power and the other is address/data cable. it is held in by four screws, two on each side usually, you will have to remove both sides of the computer. good luck.
