O/T Ford 150 front brakes lock

Are the calipers releasing properly..??

Could be the flex lines are failing and not allowing fluid to return to the Master Cylinder..

If the pistons are sticking in the calipers and compressing them with a "C"-Clamp does not cure it, you need to replace them..

Sounds like your brakes are dragging and getting HOT..

Ron..

Ck. the front hoses I had that problem chainged the calipers no help then changed the hoses, flushed the brake fluid and the problem was gone.HTH

I had this problem with my '98 F150. New brake hoses cured it.

I had a heavy duty 6" C-clamp to compress the caliper, and I couldn't budge it. Just couldn't imagine that a bad hose could lock the fluid so completely - but it did!

Dragging, getting hot. Boils fluid and applies brake. Often this is caused or at least made worse by water contamination from rain or wash rack. Over heated oil can essentially fail and may boil easier the second time as well.

Also, have brakes been changed? The newer kits have a spring to separate the caliper upon release. Not sure what yours came stock with.

Brake hose's. Common problem on the 150s. When they get some age and get weak the collapse cutting off the fluid flow

Keep your foot off of the brake pedal! I couldn t resist sorry. I would check the slides on the calipers and the pads, as said before maybe the rubber lines.
