OT Arthritis remedy

I have osteo arthritis in my back. I had a hard time getting out of the car after driving, walked with a stoop and it hurt to stand up straight. I tried the honey and cinnamon in hot water to no avail. I had almost given up going to auctions because I couldn't stand up very long without lots of pain. I went to a local consignment auction Oct 1 and a older guy stopped me( I didn't know him from Adam) and said you have arthritis in your back, don't you. I said yes I do. He said he could tell by the way I walked. He said to get some raisins, cover the bottom of a cereal bowl with them and put enough rum in the bowl to cover them and let them soak until them plump back up and then eat a few everytime you walk past the bowl. I got the cheapest bottle of rum I could get at the grocery store, we already had the raisins and let them soak for 4 days and then started eating them. I didn't pay much attention until about a week later my wife told me I was standing up straighter at 5:30pm than I had for a long time. It's been a month now, I can stand up straighter than I used to. I can get out of the car much easier now. I went to a plow day today and took a lawn chair with me because I would have to set after standing for a little while before. I stood and walked around for a couple of hours before lunch and never took the chair out of the pickup. At church, I was always the last one to make it to my feet when we had to stand up. The last couple of weeks, I noticed I'm one of the first ones up. I'm not a drinker, raisins taste terrible, about takes my breath away to eat them, but I haven't felt this good in YEARS!!!! All you guys with no pain make all the jokes you want, I've heard most all of them at work, BUT any of you with arthritis, TRY THIS!! BTW golden raisins will swell up more than regular rasins. The golden one will almost turn back into a grape when soaked 5 to 7 days. For less than $10 you can feel much better. Yes, I still have some pain, I am not cured, don't clain to be, but I am a heck of a lot better than I was. I even quit taking tylenol for pain this week. This works for me, hope it works for you. Chris

Rum Raisin Ice Cream, yummy. Home made fruit cake with the soaked raisins, yummy. But use something like Captain Morgans or Appleton amber.

I use one of my wifes tupperware containers about 4" square, about 3/4" of raisins spread out and covered with cheap rum. Soak at least 4 days, up to a week. Drain off rum and cover. I can't take them to work and eat there, so I eat how ever many will stay on a salad fork when I get up, another fork full when I get home from work(10 to 12 hours later) and then another before bed. Chris

Thanks 99,

Was going to ask you about the recipe after walking across the plowed gound today!

Jim

Thanks for the tip super99. I also have arthritis and degenerative disc in my back so I know exactly what your saying. I was in my late 40's when it got to affecting me.

You can't question results in this case as you say the trick works for you, so I'm not going to go there. Still you might want to talk to a doctor and get a blood alcohol test done on a typical day of eating the rum soaked raisins. We all know that alcohol tends to 'thin the blood' and an increase in blood flow, and increased blod flow to the body wil make anyone feel better. Not to mention the 'numbing', 'loosening up' effects that alcohol has on the body. Heck that's one reason a drunk can get in a wreck and not get hurt because they are basically limp and don't tense up and get hurt as a result. Regardless of which property,or properties of the alcohol is/are helping your problem the simpe fact is that you have alcohol in your system anytime you eat a couple of the raisins and also keeping that alcohol in your system the more of them you eat. The fact your getting the alcohol via a rum soaked raisin will be irrelevent to an officer if you ever get pulled for something and the officer happens to smell alcohol on your breath and decides to give you a brethalizer and a DUI.

Like I said I'm not denying the fact that this is working for you, and I don't want to be a doom monger or whatever, but it is definately something to think about before it has a chance to sneak up and possibly bite you.

All of that said you can also try Ostiobiflex. It's available on the suppliment aisle and it works without the alcohol. I know for a fact my dad went off his presription artheritis medicine after starting to take it. He's the one that turned me on to the stuff and it works great for me too. I posted about it on here a good while back, when I saw it working for me, and not to long after there were other posts from guys that had seen my post, started taking it, and were swearing by it too.

Regardless of all of that I'm glad that you've at least found something to ease the pain. I've got artheritis in my neck and have had it since I was in my early 20's and it sucks when you hurt.....and anything that works to make you feel better and take away the pain is always fair game.

Not familiar with your product, but I"ve been taking glucosamine-chondroitin for at least 15 years and the pain just got progressively worse. I used to take ibuprofen for the pain, works good if you take enough pills. Dr. told me I had taken enough to start to ruin the lining of my stomach and not to take any more unless Dr prescribed. Told me to take acemetimin(Tylenol) instead. I took them but they don't work as good as the ibuprofen. I was to the point of checking into disability requirements. I haven't measured the amount of rum used/batch of raisins, when that amount is spread out over a week or longer, I doubt I get enough alcohol to be drunk. NOT sure, haven't been drunk since I was in my 20's, I'll be 60 on Christmas. Chris

Does sound like a small dose of Granny's medicine.

Getting off the Tylenol is good, the combination of alcohol and acetaminophen is very rough on your liver.

Thanks Chris.

I have taken Glucosamine-Chondroitin and have not found much relief from it.

The Rum and raisins sounds like the wiskey and raisins that my Dutch grampa used to give us kids in his basement 60 years ago. The Dutch call brandy soaked raisins "Boerenjongens".

The raisins are rich in calories and sugar and are used by athletes to gain weight.

The book Healing Remedies by Joan and Lydia Gillen states that tests have shown that one drop of alcohol remains in nine raisins. Nine raisins is their recommended daily dosage. FWIW

So every 12 hours you consume how much alcohol? I hope not but is addiction in your future? In perspective, the Alcohol is numbing your pain.Your Doctor needs to be replaced with a trip to Mayo Clinic.Mayo helped me when I discovered the last Pill Prescription another Doctor experimented on me with was a Morphine Derivative.I called Mayo Clinic and scheduled an appointment right away.I still have some discomfort but nothing like I had for the 10 years prior to going to Mayo Clinic and getting my slipped discs fixed.

I'll bet he's not getting enough alcohol to even register if tested. You'd be surprised at the amount of alcohol that must be consumed to make one legally drunk. But many are convinced that even a drop is a tool of the devil.

From "The Song of the Temperance Union"-

"I never eat fruitcake because it has rum-
And one little bite turns a man to a bum.
Oh, can you imagine a sorrier sight-
than a man eating fruitcake until he gets tight!

I never eat cookies because they have yeast-
And one little bite turns a man to a beast.
Oh, can you imagine a sadder disgrace,
Than a man in the gutter, with crumbs on his face!"

this is a recipe that paul harvey use to recommend to folks for years,,,it has worked so well for so many that the a.m.a. is studying the formula and have found that in one of the berries used to make rum there is a "drug"that is being absorbed by the raisin that is giving the relief to arthritis sufferers. so it is not a joke, it is a old remedy

If alcohol is unsealed or heated it will evaporate. Many cold/flu liquid meds have alcohol.

Yeast in cookies????
