Dealer tells me I need 8 new injectors. Wants to ding me over $4000 to do the job. Anybody ever done these themselves? Truck has 130000 on the clock. Spending $4k on it seems ridiculous. Is it a DIY job? Not afraid to tear into things, but don't want to get into taking the cab off and all that bs. Is there a better aftermarket injector for less money?

A friend of mine had his injectors changed last year at a diesel performance shop. They put reman injectors in. I believe it was somewhere around $2000. I've never done injectors on a 6.0 but I'm almost sure that you don't have to jack the cab up.

Suggest you post this question to my friends on Powerstroke.org in the 6.0 General Discussion tab. I'm on that site daily ... and the people there will provide you an incredible amount of help.

A quick look on ebay shows reman injectors for $200 each plus a $75 core charge. Still not cheap. You anywhere near Norwich? Try Burts truck shop (behind Wally World). He doesnt work on them himself but he knows a guy that does and suppossedly knows how to fix them correctly. The dealers dont seem to. Might be worth a try.

No need to remove the cab or the HVAC housing. Early build you need a high pressure hose release tool, later builds a T30 Torx bit that is not in a socket for 2 of the oil manifold bolts and a 10mm hex bit for the stand pipes. T40 or T45 for the injector hold downs.
