I am trying to help a good friend get his tractor started. He installed a new 6 - volt battery from Farm Tractor supply, positive ground. All cables have been cleaned. Starter turns over very slowly and the new starter solinoid has a clicking sound. Need some advice. Thank You

Sounds like a partialy charged battery. Batteries need to be put on a charger for awhile before installing in a vehicle. Joe

yep.. weak battery, dirty connections.. bad ground, or wimpy 12v 4ga cables instead of 1/0 HD 6v cables.

Had an Oliver 66 drove me nuts a month or so ago acting up like that. Had the starter rebuilt and all. The connections just weren't tight enough on the back of the starter button itself.
