snow blower

They bring up to a couple hundred bucks around here, $150 is normal. They work OK in dry snow. If it's wet or crusted, not so well. I have one, it doesn't take much horsepower and the powdery snow doesn't like to be bladed as well, so it has it's place.

Yea, just over scrap price at an auction..... They work better than a shovel, but not a lot better....

After seeing the east coast snow - I fired up my Toro yesterday and let it warm up after a long summers rest.

I am going to be trying a 6 foot Arps this winter. Getting it real cheap, possibly free, and I realize they aren't the best. It is missing two of the flails or whatever they are called. Anyone know where to find a pair of them?

Mine died on me last winter. Found a replacement for $80. Like they say, not much better than a shovel, but beats the c*** out of shoveling

There are 2 styles of V type snowblowers.
The Arps style that usually has a round handle around the discharge shoot that rotates. This type can only be used with the tractor backing up.
The Erskine / Allied style that usually has a flip type discharge. These have a frame with a pipe within a pipe mounting and can be reversed so you can use them backing up the tractor or use them as a pull behind blower with the tractor going forward. These have more value.
With either style be sure the breaker bars on the input shaft are there to help break up the snow so it feeds into the blower..
I hope this helps you.
