Just had some work done on my bow and er uh set up my target, slung up a backstop, was sighting it in, shooting a tad high, but a few more shots, pin adjustment(s), should be right back on, was going well, until 1/2 way into my draw, the release opened up or was not set right!!! Not sure what the deal was, finger was off the trigger, had a friend behind me, sighting my arrow in case the sight was way off etc.
Punched myself right in the mouth, the reaction caused the bow to point upward, friend saw the arrow take off, says it went high up. I found it 20 yards from the target, unscathed, straight, but missing the nock. So I gets a free punch in the mouth, release handle right to the lower lip actually, no dental work needed and find a still good arrow !
Tru-Fire release, which I've used for 10 years, always check to make sure its set too,(jaw properly closed) it came out of this worse than I when all was said and done ! No way I'd trust that one again anyway, but goes to show, an archer had best pay strict attention to what he/she is doing, can happen.
Anyone else done it, including the penalty shot to the mouth ? LOL !!!
PS, from another persons perspective, must have looked pretty darn foolish too !!! Well we all play the part of a fool sooner or later !
