Usually only come here to ask your advice. Just had to post this though. My husband and I went to an auction yesterday 10.29.11 in SE MN. There was a Little Giant Tractor, Model B2206 on the sale bill! This is said to be #5 of 5 known to exist in the US (see attached photo - I erased the new owner, didn't think he'd appreciate his mug on the internet)...it was previously thought that there were only 4 of these ol' beasts. Did not hear them state the year it was made by the Mayor Brothers in Mankato, MN. It has a brass radiator. TOUCHED IT, TOOK PICS and we watched it sell-- with even an online bidder from Belgium. Was bought by a guy from Iowa I believe. IT BROUGHT $32,000 !!!! The crowd just cheered heartily. I think the opening bid was 20K and it shot up to 30K in a heartbeat. Amazing sale! Also watched an old Harley Davidson Motorcycle (thought to be a 1929) sell for $14,000 at the same auction...that was bought by a woman - ticked off a lot of guys who had to drop out of bidding after about 9K. Best, most fun, most exciting auction EVER! And I mean EVER! It rocked!

Awesome! Look at that magneto with 4-bar magnets! Will be beautiful when fully restored as original and operational.

Hey, thanks for the photo showing a painted up Little Giant. Very interesting to see... But gotta say, that I hope he keeps her rusty (I'm highly partical to rust)- because I just don't like inchworm green with red and yellow.

(quoted from post at 12:41:03 10/30/11) WHAT is that standing beside it... the abdominal snowman???

Yep, and his Wheel Horse brand snowmobile is in the background, lol.........

Red snowmobile in the background for all you non vintage snowmobile people, lol.........

She said she photo-shopped the buyer out, to protect his privacy.

Neat old tractor, and looks like it would run without too much work. Another vote for leaving it in its "barn-find" clothes.

word on smokstak is it will be on display at Heritage park in Forest City Iowa in the future. Interesting tractor for sure.

By golly, I bet if you poured some gas in the tank and water in the rad, give her a pull and I bet it would be running. That price seems a little on the low side. About 25 years ago my wifes uncle who is co-owner of the Dotson Co. which bought out the Mayer Brothers foundry years ago but is still in buisiness yet today in the same spot in Mankato. Anyway as I started to say about 25 years ago denny Dotson heard of a Little Giant coming up for sale at auction in North Dakata. He could not make it so he sent an employee out there with $20,000 cash to buy it. Told him don't come back without it. He got it but they had to wire another $5000 out to him. The thing was a total wreck. Almost unrecognizable. After he got back it took 10 years and $100,000 to restore it. But I have seen it and it is beautiful. It is on display at Pioneer Power in Le Seuer, Mn. That must be the one they refer to as being in Mankato, Mn.

Yeah, I figured that.

I was trying to make a joke/be humorous. (You know, be FUNNY!)

I had a lapse of memory there for a moment and forgot there are few on this site with ANY sense of humor.

I'll try to remember that next time!

Of the half-dozen or so sites I frequent there is WAY less humor here than any of the others. WHAT a bunch of grouches!

I work at a shop that makes foundry trim presses. We've got one in Dotson's foundry over there in Mankato. Simple castings can be trimmed in a matter of seconds. We've got 2 tools out there that trim grouser pads for skid steers and that takes maybe 20 seconds or so, but it's a finished part in the end, no secondary machining nessesary.
