'88 3/4 ton. Indicator lights on the floor for the four wheel drive (forward bulb).

Can ya look in your schematic book and tell me which one of those three pins (in the white four-way connector down at the axle) sends juice up to that light?

Think I've got an open wire somewhere as everything works (transfer case switch, axle acutator and axle switch) but the silly indicator doesn't light and I can't find my shop manual (think it's buried out in the storage shed).

I can backfeed the white wire up in the cab and it lights.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Oh Allen what do you take us for, bunch of idiots, we all know only chevy has those indicator lights on the floor.

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question.

Allan:

It is a Chevy. You can chase those little electrical gremlins forever. NONE of the 4x4 indicator lights could be made to stay working on my old 6.2 diesel (1987).

My 2001 2500 isn't much better. It has the "pushbutton" controls. I sometimes get "service 4x4" message for no reason at all. I can turn it off overnight and the message will clear itself.

I much prefer how my short wheel base Dodge snowplow pickup is set up instead of the "pushbuttons". I never even bother to look at the indicator lights, I just push or pull the transfer case lever where it needs to be. DOUG

Hi ya Doug!

Yeah, I know; guess I'm kinda picky that way. :>(

However, in my own defense, I want that light to work for the same reason that you're gettin' the 4x4 error messages on your truck.

I don't want to be powerin' into that thing before that front axle is fully engaged/disengaged. Especially at 70mph goin' down the hiway.

Hey Allan,
You're on the righ rascal.

Outta the brn,ppl and wht,the white one sends juice to the 4wd indic lamp.Seems to me there's a splice somewhere and that old dealer flat binder book shows it,but doesn't say where.......figures

Thanks neighbor,

The metal loom holder isn't bolted down up on top of the bell housing. Betcha that big loom got pinched when the engine was installed last time. :>(

I'm gonna run an alternate wire and see if I can get that dude to fire up.

Thanks for your help; I really, really appreciate it.

Allan

Any time pal!

Those looms always got left outtta the equation didn"t they? Not alot of original 350"s left in those guys anymore.Glad they figured "em out in short order. My 88 4x4 already had a Goodwrench and a SRTA installed when I bought it in the mid 90"s at a bank repo sale.Still going strong........
