OT how does that work

Does the forum boss periodically go over the threads and erase the ones that are not about tractors, which I realize this one would qualify. I responded to one today about bra material and one last night about New Jersy, and I don't see either of them currently. Is that what happened?

I know I have forums that I moderate and those have some of the same rules. I do cruise around mine and I do delete things that are not on the topic. Off topic post tend to get out of hand and collects sometimes poor judgement comments. Its also 'clutter'. Neat, clean and organized. Searching for a specific make or model will provide better results without clutter. The last bra I installed was on an 80's car, not a tractor.

The bra thread wasn't about automotive bras, and if it was that would explain why they're having problems with them.

That's all fine if it got axed. I come here to see the technical problems people have with older tractors. When there are OT threads, I sometimes enjoy them, but, they are extra.

Yup - we like to -one up- each other, and someone will take things a little too farmand the thread goes off on a bad area, either the mods notice or some folks report it, and it gets deleted.

Didn't have to have anything to do with the original message or your particular comments - just somewhere along the way it went overboard.

i am the person that posted about the bra topic,i posted in the tool forum for a reason.i am a jack machinist, and i consider myself to be very mechanical,i like to describe myself as "i can fix anything except a broken heart and the crack of dawn".the post is not intended to be about a female but about the wire and a process to make a underwire.i would think that most of the people on this site are tinkerers and do fix things by themselves, and only turn to someone else for a opinion on the subject at hand,as in 2 minds are better than one.i have at home the use of a very good cnc shop and good tools and knowledge to use them, gained from years of experience...but i cant seem to produce the described wire peice

You agree to the rules every time you post. The folks that run this board do delete threads they consider inappropriate. (The locals call this "poofing".) Sometimes they get a little overzealous; I remember one time a thread about how to iron blue jeans was deleted. Often the thread starts out OK, then someone adds an inappropriate post that gets the whole thread deleted.

Oh, by the way, posts about deleting posts sometimes get deleted, too!

I go back several pages sometimes, to look for an old thread, and most of the off-topic threads are still there. I think they only get poofed if someone says something unacceptable. I think "the system" on here is working fine.

We've had some trolls lurking on here in the past, and I've been annoyed when I took the time to put in a long response on an economic or political topic, only to have the whole thread zapped when some idiot says something moronic. Doesn't seem to be as much of a problem at present, but it comes and goes. Generally, the trolls get harassed enough that they go away.

There's an explanation of what often happens under a post by JDseller on the Site Comments forum.
