What models of pickers had right hand cut in the 40s or 50s that would have used this row shield on the tractor? Has anyone ever seen one of these. Yes, it's Deere.

I think it is a home built contraption that was built to prevent tractor wheel from running down broke off stalks when using a pull type picker. Pa built one for the "60" JD using an old 1X10 board and some metal straps to bolt to tractor frame to pickup them down stalks. It worked good.

I have used one like that. Used with a pull type corn picker when we had down corn. Made from a corn picker snout. Worked good.

My owner/user manual for the JD #18 Corn Picker shows a picture of that shield on a tractor as an option (as the others have said) to use with down corn. Sure is a neat piece, if you or the owner is interested in selling my e-mail is open, would look neat with my picker.
