Continental engine firing order

What is the firing order for a Continental model 330 6 cylinder engine that was built about 1953. Where would the fireing order be stamped: on the block or the head? It is a flat head engine mounted in a 1953 Cleveland model 140 tiling machine built in 1953. Thank you for the information. Armand

Armand,

On my 226 they're cast into the head.. I have seen it cast into some manifolds of some things.

Sounds like the project is moving forward, eh?

Would you know the HP and rated speed of that engine. It was also used in the Gleaner combines i am told. We are putting it on a wood chipper.

Gene: The speed of that engine in my tiling machine is 1200 rpm's. Horse power MIGHT be 60 hp. but not sure. Look for a second opinon. Is the id tag on your engine readable? If so I would like to know the spec information. My tag is unreadable. Also do you have a M&S carb. Al I can read on my carb. tag is 353 in the middle of the tag. Tahnk you for any information you can provide. Armand

I havent seen the engine all i know is the owner wants to replace the out-put pulley with a B- Belt 4 sheave instead of the wide on used on the combine. The shaft is tapered and would need to be turned down a little to remove the taper then we can get a hub and 4 sheave pulley. He thinks the 1 3/4 shaft size would not be strong enough to take the load. They will make a new shaftwith the splines on the drive end and 2 1/4 size on the end for the pulley price 675 which i think is reasonable. I would take the taper out of original and then go with new hub and pulley. I would think this engine being on a Gleaner combine would run faster.

back in the late 60ies when I was in th army the instructor said all inline 6 cyl. had the same fireing order. 15 to young 36 too old 24 just right. 153624 just remember the ryme.

I think that goes teh same for the 4 cyl engines. I always remember 1342. if you think about it, in sequence, it is really 21/34 so that the back 2 fire from inner to outter, then teh front 2 fire from inner to outer. If you watch teh pistons, they come up the outsides reach top of stroke together, then inside reach top of stroke together. balance.
