The more I see of the E bay auction bidding the more I dislike it, just looking at digital cameras, bid was $211 next one was $595. makes me suspicious. Are there people THAT stupid.

It's not confined to Ebay. I was looking at a hydraulic boring unit for a Ditch Witch on a government auction site for a customer that needed one. It was local so I went down last week to take a peek since the price on it was less than $100at the time. Told the customer I couldn't pull a unit off another machine and make a mount, etc for that price. Turns out the part wasn't for a Ditch Witch but for a Vermeer, it had no valving with it, etc, etc. Basically it was just a hydraulic motor on a base. Looked at the site tonight and the thing went for over $460 by the time the buyer payed the bid price plus the buyers premium. There's no way, in my opinion anyway, the thing was worth near that, especially given that there was no way to even know it it worked. OH WELL, to each his own.....

My vote would be yes. I was looking a a new crossbow and realy liked the Horton Vision. Being a savy shopper I shopped the big sports stores, FleaBay and a couple other places. I was suprised to see a couple used bows on Fleabay going for more than drop shipped new. You gotta be pretty stupid or lazy to not scroll down half a dozen listings to get a new bow WITH warranty and ALL its package contents, vs a used bow missing items and NO warranty.........

It isn't just limited to Ebay. Last several auctions I've been to where they had fire arms was just funny. Guys paying 150-300 more for a gun than the actual value.

I guess I don't understand your point. When you bid on eBay, you give your maximum bid. If the current bid is 595, that means someone else was willing to pay almost that much, say 594.

So, assuming bid increments are $1:
starting bid is say 200.
Bidder A bids 600. Bid is now 200.
Bidder B bids 210. Bid is now 211. (210 + 1)
Bidder C bids 594. Bid is now 595. (594 + 1)

Bidder A remains the high bidder.

Why is this suspicious? If you don't like eBay, go down to Best Buy and you don't have to worry about such things.

I saved well over 2 grand on Land Rover parts on ebay with no problems just have to be smart about it.

Shill bidding is alive and well on ebay. Only way to fight it is to bid your maximum on your first bid, and then forget it. I just watched a Farmall M USED carburetor sell for over $144. I fully expect to see that one listed again in the very near future.

Sometimes I look for parts on E-Bay...I've
noticed that some sellers "Starting Price" or
"Buy it now" price is often higher than a "New'
price from NAPA! I laugh! Are people that dumb?
