1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited

Hi,

Does anyone know if a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Quadradrive with a V8 4.7 engine ,automatic transmission and security alarm has a BCM ( Body Control Module ). Something is killing my instrument panel guages and triggering the check engine light and check guages light . As well as my compass panel. Take battery cable off for awhile and it will reset and run fine . Only does it after it has set for awhile and gotten cold , like overnight .Motor runs fine ,headlights work . Thanks for any and all help.

I bought a new 91, started home and discovered that the radio didn't work. Took it back, they fixed it. Sometime later, I discovered that none of the right speakers worked. They still didn't work when I sold it. I had it about a month when a cop stopped me. He told me that when I turned my turn signals on that the backup lights flashed rather than signal lights. When the battery voltage dropped to 11.9 volts the alarm system activated, horn honked lights flashed untill it ran the battery completly down. Not anything you could do to stop it except pull the battery cable off. I don't plan to buy another Jeep.

Whizkid, you've got several modules scattered throughout that Jeep. I just traded a 1997 off with 208,000 miles. Do some reserch or you're likely to replace a lot of good stuff trying to find the bad part.

Yes and no. They have what is known as a Central Timer Module. Pretty much the same thing. Last I knew there were about 10 revisions for them from Chrysler...

He probably bought and paid for it before he asked about the (poor) reputation of the 4.7 Jeeps.That's how most of the general public operates...............

Wrong on both accounts . I asked about it on here before I bought it . I also spoke to other people who own one about their vechile as well as their opinions on them and it's not paid for yet . I still owe about $2500 . on it . I'm not as dumb as most people think that I am .

Seems that all makes of cars have problematic issues, different years different models.
So... bashing one make over another really doesn't make it a bad make, its the lack of knowledge by people that do.
