Spark plug brand opinions???

Just a poll. Any gas engine. Do you prefer OEM plugs or is there one brand that is "better" than the next? SHON

I prefer to run whatever the factory recommends. I bough a new 1964 Chevrolet and when went to the parts house they were out of ACs so I went with Autolite. The darned things wouldn't half run right out of the box! Could have been just a bad batch of plugs, I don't know. If I run anything other than factory recommended, I generally run Champions. I know others have different preferences, and to each his own, but I'm just speaking from personal experience.

I put a set of Autolites in my pickup once, and it ran worse than before. Put AC's back in and it ran fine.

I think spark plugs are one area where you're better off to stick with what the manufacturer recommends.

I think thats true for the most part but I will "plug" for NGK's. About the best plug I've ever run in anything! Down side is they don't make plugs for everything.

Son went to auto parts store for plugs for his '49 JD B. They sold him Autolites. Were good for about 3 hours before started running rough, absolutely lost all power... Didn't think I was going to make it home with a wagon load of hay.. Went back and got a set of Champions, highest heat range. Tractor starting, running fine since. Donno if Autolites were wrong heat range or what.

Snowmobiles: Champion
Chainsaws: Champion
Car: Champion
Truck: OEM AC (haven't changed them yet)
Garden tractors: Champion
Wood Splitter: Champion
Deere B: AC
Leaf Blower: Champion
Camaro: Champion or AC

Tried NGK's on my sleds and had plugs out-right fail with only a couple hundred miles on them, have had the terminal studs strip out and have cracked porcelain out of the box. I tried their Iridium fine wire plugs once, waste of money (though I got them really, really cheap).

Hello,
I have been using e3 plugs on anything that has the e3 equivalent.
More power, more torque, less fuel consumption.
They were tested on a dino on horse power TV twice. The second time they had better emission as well.
I'M sold on them! Most of the time plugs out of the box need to be gapped, and most people do not gap them.
Guido.

Put em all in a bag and shake them up and there would be no difference. You may get a bad one once in a while. Probably all made in same factory now anyway!!!

In JD 2 cyl tractors, I had the best luck with AC plugs. The champions would burn up too fast.

I have always been a Autolite man (35 years using them and only a few bad plugs),,, A little over a year ago I went OEM across the board because it seamed every car I tuned up with autolites I had to chase a miss-fire...
I needed a set of plugs for a tractor last week,,, I opened up 2 boxes of chines autolites and found only one good plug (they were defective right out of the box)... That's it I am done with Autolites...
