can I guy make a john deere 7000 12 30 into a 20 inch row without cutting the frame? just looking for some ideas don't have a planter yet but looking to build a 20 inch row planter not so much for corn but for beans not looking to spend alot just wondering if anyone has done it and how much work it takes thanks for any info jeremy

Are we talking a rigid frame carried on a trailer or are we talking a transport-type front fold? The front fold will require some modification for 20 inch rows. At least that is what I was told by an owner of a 12 row. I can go check it out today.

The one I looked at appears though the wheel support assemblies would have to be modified or replaced. I don't think the seed transmission in the center will allow for true 20 inch spacing for the inner most two. I did not think to see how many could go theoretically on the middle frame and what kind of gap will be on the end. You should have close to 16 feet theoretically on the center frame. Something tells me it might be a whole lot easier to do 24" center on center. I'll try to get back to the planter in the next couple of days.
