change engine

Well, I remeber when I was a young feller, reading a letter in a hot rod magazine. Writer wondered if he could fit a Lincoln engine in a Nash Rambler. Editor said that you could put anything in anything with a big enough hammer. Think that answer works here.

What is a TD 25 C? Maybe I can help when I know what you have. The important things are will the Cummins engine physically fit, does your old one have a S.A.E. flywheel and housing, etc.

A TD25 is a International crawler('bout the size of a D8Cat).it originally used a IH 817(?) engine

I put an 855 Cummins in a 2470 Case 4wd. Found a machinist in Sheybogan Falls, WI to make the adapter plate, had to extend the frame a bit, move the rad forward, and make a longer hood. Also had to find a front sump oil pan to clear the front differential, add an ag governor. Fantastic torque compared to the 5xx Case engine. Can make a 180 degree turn with a 24 foot digger (yeah, in the ground) at idle in 3+2, crack the throttle and run 7MPH.

It"s the white one in this photo.........sold it a few years ago, still working for a demo guy who took down the local elevator this summer. The brown area behind the cab....it"s an air tank from a semi....to feed air to an air ride truck seat, courtesy of the compressor on the Cummins. Also handy to pump up a tire!
Figured it was a safe location to mount...if it blows up, no harm, no foul.

When I was was in my 20's & 30's I was always telling people "With a cutting torch and welder I can make anything fit anywhere." It was fun doing it then. I've slowed down some since then. Still enjoy making alot of things fit where they've never been before.

After you confirm it will physically fit check the max. torque limit of your tramsmission and other driveline componets.

Cummins engines use a fully deairating cooling system. Not really a big deal, it is just a tank mounted on top of your current radiator with lines attached. Your nearest Cummins Distribitur (not Dealer) should be able to provide you with a schematic.

I Was wondering if you put the 855 in your td-25c I was looking to do the same thing with mine I don't think my 817 is worth fixin.
