Electric twine tie

I hope I can post a question about a baler in this section. I haven't found any other place to ask. I am having problems with the electric twine tie on my Gehl 2880 baler.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this type of tying system that can speak to me on trouble shooting.

I originally suspected electrical issues but now am leaning more towards a problem with the motor. I am not sure how to test a DC motor. Any help would be much appreciated.

I have no idea what type of motor it is, but here are a few standard factors:
1} is it getting voltage when activated?
2} is it binding from internal bearing issues or lack of Lubrication to the bearings?
3} is the load changing such that the motor is now overloaded from out of time mechanism or bent components?
4} are the brushes good enough to make correct contact?
5} are all commutator segments the same color/or discolor?
6) is there a change in the cooling air around it, Chaff, or dirt?
7} have you changed twins type or brand?
Are all the wires and connections good?
These questions are pretty generic, but may be of service. Jim

I had a chance to do some trouble shooting on the motor. With power introduced from another source, straight to the motor, the twine arm works perfectly fine. From the cab control, the arm will not extend to tying position, but will retract normally.

I thought maybe the ground was a problem, but with the twine arm coming to home position normally and power available at each terminal when activated manually, my suspicion now is a faulty relay or the interface module. I will have to contact a dealer to see where the switching occurs and go from there.

Thanks for your suggestions.
