Stihl 020AVP Coil Test

Is there a way to test the ignition coil and trigger modules on this saw? It currently has no spark at all. I just recently replaced the fuel line, fuel filter and the little rubber adapter the carb mounts to in my rebuilding of the saw.

I would take the spark plug out, re-hook the plug wire to it, lay the plug on the head & pull the cord, watching for spark. There is a handy little tool called spark tester that you snap the plugwire to & clamp the other end to the top of the sparkplug. Pull on the cord & watch spark jump across adjustable gap.

there is a machine to bench-test that coil but you will never find anyone who has it. I've hunted in shops thru 3 states & no one uses it. My 020 coil is 30 yrs old so likely it's the points & condensor

There is a used coil here:-

Hi 2x4
I've got a military surplus coil tester set.
I cost me $500, and They'll have to pry it from
my cold dead hand when i'm gone...how else could
I test Magneto coils?
Wife says "Why don't you get rid of all that
junk in your garage" So she"ll probably shovel
it into a dumptster some day. I told her that
"The day after my funeral people will be coming
to the door wanting to buy my "Junk""

I had similar problems with 020 wood boss saw. Then I discovered a transistorized ignition module, Nova 31-1986. It replaces the coil and points in your saw for only $15.19 . Google it, well worth the price.
