How rare is it? LeRio 1947 air compressor tractor.Do we try

to save it from the scrap monster?Gentleman on Craigslist says it goes one way or another.Was wondering if it's a rare find.Seems to be I've never seen one .Might not make it in time thou. He says he's taking the torch to it on 10-02-2011 in the morning.Just want some imput or maybe another person that might be able to save it quickier than me.Thanks guys BlaineF(WA)
 
Since the LeRIO Gas Compressor company says that it has been in business for 25 years, I'd say a 1947 is extremely rare unit.
 
I think the spelling is wrong.I did a valve job on one of those engines in the early 60s and the chopper was pretty old.
 
Its LeRoi. They go back to the early 50's, at least- probably further. Probably not many around, but not much collector interest that I've seen.
 

They will "Run" a steam tractor..that is..make it operate..BUT, it will NOT provide enough to actually "Work" a Steam Tractor..
Friend here in Ohio has a nice one he would sell..
Runs well, may need new Paint..
Seems to me it uses an AC engine type, with 2 extra cylinders cast in the block, as the compressor..
At least, this one does..

I had one about 5 yrs ago that i got from my neighbor. He got it from the railroad but it wasn't the compressor style. Just the tractor with hyds and powerangle front blade. It had a Farmall A back end and a Leroi engine 4cyl. I sold it. I do have an extra starter for it.
