Combine engine into F20????????

Well boys, need some advice. Have been on the Allis board, but I might have not asked the question right. Here's what I would like to attempt and don't know how to do it.
I have a G230 Allis engine out of a combine and also have a Farmall F20 with no engine. Is it possible to put the engine into the F20??? I saved the engine from the scrappers and also the F20. How do I go about finding a clutch assembly to put on the engine. All it has is a shaft coming out the back. Someone said that a WD45Diesel might bolt up, but all I want is a clutch assembly and bell housing to bolt up to the F20 trans. Am not cutting anything up that is original, just trying to make something out of what I have. ANY ideas would be welcome. Thanks guys. Seems like this forum covers just about anything, not just one brank. Am in ILL.
 
My brother, anything is possible, if you're commited to it. This is not a step by step instruction, but, if it were me, I would use the clutch that matches the engine & fabricate what you need to connect it the rest, as opposed to matching the clutch to the rest of the tractor.
 
You will need a clutch and bell housing for the motor, all of the conversions I have seen use a transmission to fit the motor too, and then shaft drive it into the F-20 tranny.
 
You'll need a clutch/flywheel assembly from
a WD45 diesel not easy to find,plus you'll need a governor assembly for a tractor which means different front plates.It ain't worth it you'll spend lots of time and $$$ and still have next to nothing when you finish.Find a D19 with a blown engine and put your engine it and have a real tractor
 
Well boys, sounds like you told me what I needed to hear before going out and spend $$ that I really do not have. At least I know what I would be up against and I sincerely appreciate your honesty. Many thanks for your input. jim
 
F20 tranny is connected to clutch output shaft with a cross couple/sort of Ujoint. Combine engines tend to have crank output long shaft for pulley sheaves or a stub plate to mount sheave assembly-which sometimes could get regular flywheel mounted. Youve seen other posts- you can do it with lots of money or keep checking salvage yard for other bits and pieces. A Buick V6 with the short shaft automatic tranmission was featured in one article awhile back, squeezed in fairly close but did fit. Tranny was used mostly in low gear or second, belt drive governor and power steering pump was used for hydraulic cylinder. Another swap picture from a tractor show was Ford flathead B 4 cylinder- slight upgrade of model A- engine that was judged at start to be a original design, not a "custom" so was put in line with the other restored displays by young organisers of event. Older judges caught it second day when they did the official judging. A before 1970s bellhousing mount 3 speed or Powerglide auto with associated engine might be a better project- a 1962(?) Ford 292 block with the 3 speed manual from a 1/2 ton truck run mostly second gear was a old iron feature in F20 or F30, a 283 Chev V8 with the powerglide was another. F14 with a Jeep engine can go much faster than safe on road in high engine gear- that one was in central Iowa built by salvage yard operator. F20, old Masseys, WD/WC allis and some Oliver are handy swap basis as the non-unitary design means less hassle using engine as a stessed member to mount steering, bolt to transmission bellhousings that are cast as part of tranny case. Ollies -1600s?- have been getting some 5.9 Cummins put into them, supposed to be very practical cost effective projects. .
 
Again, thanks for all the info. Like you guys said, anything is possible, if you have the money. Probably should just list the G 230 engine in the ads and see if anyone is interested and spend my time and money in a more productive ???????? manner. Did not think it would be that complicated. Seems whatever I attempt to do takes at least 3 times as long as it used to do and costs at least twice as much. I know that things are heavier than they used to be and the shop seems farther each day. LOL At least I still get out there. ttyl Email is open.
