Carb problems

Hows it going, I have rebuilt my carb, replaced sediment bowl assembly, cleaned tank, checked line for obstruction, converted to a 12 volt system. Rolls over great but still cannot get fuel into the cylinders. I can crank on it with the choke out, the gas will drip out of the carb but when I check the plugs there bone dry I have had my carb torn apart I dont know how many times starting to run out of paitents.I have noticed on the bowl part of the carb that there is two little holes on top of the machined surface,Im guessing sends air to the main nozzle the one hole has a pressed in brass bushing that is disformed could this be my problem.

depending on what carb---yeah probably. on the left side of the page on this site, you will see research and info. under that heading is another heading called articles. in that section is an article called step by step carb rebuild that is pretty informative. if it is for any TSX carb there is a fellow that hangs out on the 8n,2n,9n board that is a carb wizard that is very knowledgable GB(MT). if you post on the 8n board he will usually answer fairly quickly just title it Carb help GB (MT). he usually has his e-mail open and can point you in the right direction or sometimes will rebuild for you depending on how many chores he is behind. please post with what kind of carb etc......what tractor it's on. quick question--did you check the intake for obstruction such as a rats nest?---don't ask why I'm asking.

It would help us help you if you said what tractor you have but since your handle has 9N in it will take a guess you have a 9N or a 2N. Sounds like you have a compression problem and your compression s way down. You need at least 90PSI in all the cylinders for a N series tractor to even begin to run well

It is a TSX33 for a 9N And I did look for any obstruction in the intake but did not see any thing without taking the intake off. And thanks for the info.

Gator9n........you do know it takes a VACUUM to suck gas from the carb up into the cylinders, don't you???

There are many causes of lost vacuum......stuck piston rings......but more likely stuck valves from engine not being run fer while. You doubt??? take yer valve covers off behind yer carb and watch fer uppsies'n'downsies when you turn yer engine over with starter motor and SPARKIES OUT.

It should be intuitively obvious when valves don't go uppsies'n'downsies. And there are MANY products that you can "spray" into the valve chests and dissolve the varnish that is causing the sticking. Simple, eh? .......Dell

I fought on for half a day till I pulled the spark plugs and turned it over with my thumb over the hole. The valves were stuck, no compression.

Try this to see if you have vacuum and compression since with out compression you will not have vacuum. Put your hand over the air intake of the carb and spin the engine over. It should suck pretty hard on you hand. If it does not then you have a compression problem be it sticking rings or a valve. If low on vacuum you can pour a 1/4 cup of ATF in each cylinder and try it te next day and you may find it has improved

Will it crank on starting fluid? Check the plugs and make sure they are firing and the plug wires are on correctly.

Ok sounds like you have poor spark or fouled plugs. Of it sucks hard on your hand then fuel is getting to the cylinders and the plugs are either not firing or are foul out by gas. Check your spark and make sure it will jump a 1/4 inch gap and also check and clean your plugs Auto lite 437 plugs are the preferred plugs
