Toy farming

Hope you guys don't mind. I've looked for toys representing the old days of ear corn picking (my favorite farm memory) and couldn't find anything besides pickers. Couple years ago I made this stuff. The drive thru crib has hooks in the corners to disassemble and put away, but I've had it set up in my den for the past year and my wife hasn't complained-- yet.

I like that ! Did you make the corn also?
How did you make it look so realistic?
Or is that something you can buy ?

I bandsawed a bunch of wood strips, bundled them together and sawed the bundles to length to make corn. Also used some shiskabob sticks. Then spray painted. The bulk of the space in the wire crib I filled with styrafoam cut into "wheels" about an inch smaller diameter than the crib so there's only about a half inch of corn on the sides. The roof is made of soda pop cans. The elevators are cut from discarded aluminum louver drap head rails. I made the elevator wheels with a hole saw on the drill press. And no, the elevators don't move corn, but do crank up and down.

Would you mind if I posted these pics on our Garden tractor forum ?
There is a section of farm toys there ... Bet the guys would like to see your handiwork .

Sure go ahead if you'd like. I was thinking it might be worthwhile for this site to have a separate toy forum. By the way, in past years I got a wood feed box from a farm sale. I reworked it to resemble a barn. It's an outside storage box about 6 feet long. Will look for pictures I have on a dvd.

Ok Thanks I still need to get permission from Chris or Kim to post a link to this topic.
I will send email to our link I'm trying to find out if pics would show to non members.

Can you post a picture of the corn sheller by itself? I am trying to figure out what kind it is. I customed shelled with a trailor mounted John Deere no 6 equiped with a Cook (Washington) cylinder and M & M drags that was powered with a Farmal 560 D. Cap. was around 1200 BPH. I also have a truck mounted Cook sheller that was built built by Cook Machine Shop in Washington, Il. It was built in 1969 and is number 115. Supposed to have a cap. of 2000 BPH. Armand
