In The Weeds...

I found this in the weeds near my house... Belarus 250AS... Is it worth dragging it out and fixing it or should I just leave it there to rot? I can probably get it cheap (maybe even free)... Seat and steering wheel are gone... Been sitting here for about 9 years from what I've heard...

any thing cheep or free is always grabbing in case some one or if you decide to tinker with it....parts are always good to have for spares...

If you can get it for free, and have plans to use it, go for it. I doubt that you could make a big profit fixing it up for sale, but if you have a use for it, oh yeah, and are able to affect repairs, it would make a nice little garden or grounds work horse. If it were free, I'ld grab it, but I'ld have to answer to my wife about doing so.

Seat and steering wheel are gone hey....

Sounds like a good tractor for a guy who has lost his -ss and doesent know ware hes going.

With it being air cooled, you gotta wonder if the engine will get too hot... Too hot means lots of expansion and big, important things start breaking... :(

If it is real cheap or free then go for it. The tractor is not worth much in good running condition. So you will have to be real careful in repairing it so you do not have too much in it. I would try to find out what is wrong with it before doing anything. The crankshaft was known to break on this model. If this is the case then all you have is a parts tractor.

If you can buy it cheap enough buy it. See if the engine is stuck, may not take a lot to get it running. If not, part it out and sell the remainder for scrap.

Is there a market for parts? I've been told it moved here under it's own power, however, the PTO and 3-point lift don't work... So, it's only good for pulling... And I've got a 1961 Massey-Ferguson 35 that's doing everything I need done... How much is it worth as scrap?

I picked up a self propelled allis chalmers
combine on saturday. The only reason for this
purchase was for the 11.x 24 drive tires I need
for a John Deere M I bought. I"ve never seen
one like this, I think it"s a WD engine that is
froze but not Broke. Plan on removing what I can
use, & the is for scrap. I should have some
Free 6 ply tires when this is all done. Some
people around me thinks it should be restored
I have No PLANS what so ever to do that.

and free will cost you a fortune... sounds like another governent program.

do yourself a favor, like all governemnt programs.. scrap it.. and you will come out even or ahead.

That would be an All Crop 100 that was a 9' cut but you could buy a header extension to make a 12' cut for short straw or headed grain areas. Yes they used that WD engine and they are scarce, if you do not want to fix up then advertise it for parts, someone will want it. Dont advertise just localy but over a widespread area. Put price in as scrap price over scale and take the whole machine.

(quoted from post at 12:38:12 09/26/11) Paint it Gold , list it on Ebay as some super rare demonstrator model ,reserve set at $14,000
I won't do that, but I'll sell it to you and you can do whatever you want with it...
