I would like to get some Aspargras growing. If I harvest the red seeds off a present plant and plant them will they grow? Do I plant them now or in the spring? How deep?

Any hlep would great.

I have never planted seeds. You typically plant a root. You would do that in the early spring. Not sure how the seeds would do. I don't know anyone who has used seeds either and I know a few people with over 15 acres now and all have been from roots.

Overhere, we plant the root.
Even then it takes 3 years before you can harvest the first time.
With seed it will take 2 more years, 5 year until your first harvest.
Try to buy some plants. Keep in mind what you want to do, green ones ore white ? = different variety

I let them go to seed. In the late Spring, I look at the bed and find new plants starting to grow. I dig those out and transplant them where I like.
Never had any luck with just the seeds.

Seeds can take a long time-- but a existing bed that is allowed to go to seed and the shoots dug can be used as source. Some seed scattered will take- the ditchs in Iowa had some shoots come up from scattered plants on other side of road and from mowing further down, mother knew most of patchs in area and did some extra seeding around house - they came up eventually, took a few years to harvest and did spread some at grandmothers also. Takes awhile. RN

I did if from seeds once. They were from a packet though. Planted them indoors in early spring and transplanted them outdoors. The problem with seeds it takes 3 years to get a good crop. 1-2 years with the root stock you buy.
