Okay Fellas,

Wheat is all cramned in the ground for another year, pressure is off and I hope to get that pesky IH 301 running again today.

Now, so help me. If that dude does it again, I know of an engine that is gonna go see Jeasus! :>)

I know little to nothing about wheat, and even less about dryland farms, but doesn't the lack of residue and lack of packer behind drill make the soil dry out really badly for you?

looks good!i dusted in food plots last weekend.5 acres wheat, and 5 acres oats, drilled in.5 acres ryegrass another 2 acres of oats and a acre of clover sown and packed.got some rain today for the first time in i dont remember when so maybe it will come up.got another 20 acres im thinking of drilling to wheat,i dont farm anymore just tinker.what are you paying for seed wheat there?bro in law is paying $10bu.i just planted some i had left from last year.

Lack of residue , in my opinion makes for a much healthier plant. Our winter wheat ground used to look like Allan's does there. We have went to a reduced tillage, not minimum or no-till, but a reduced operation. Not really sold on it yet though. Seems to have much more disease and pest problems. Always another chemical to fix the problem. If we could get a good enough stand of wheat EVERY year to control wind erosion, I would have our wheat ground look like this every year. In our area, the black ground will raise a better crop 9 years out of 10.
