I have a 1989 chevy one ton 2wd with a 454 engine. Coming home last night with a cord of wood on the truck died. I coasted into a parking lot and got out. There was a small amount of flame, and alot of black smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. I believe this has a thrttle body fuel injection system, and I know it had a fuel pump inthe gas tank. I called a tow truck and got it home, It started this morning and ran on about four cylinder. I'm thinking what ever turns that fuel pump on and of isn't working and it super flooded my engine. Is there a pressur guage or sensor that tells the fuel pump to shut off?
By the way, I also use the truck to haul my flat bed and tractor.
Thanks to all, Tim
