o.k.- now it my turn to ask the dumb ? my W-6 ran lousy today at pulls, first time trying, found out plugs looks carbon/fouled up...has autolite 3116 in it, just need a couple of gru-ru's to tell me the correct number if these aren't the right ones..lets keep it simple, don't need fifty guesses, just the facts [dragnet, lol] i like autolites....

Any plug will foul up with carbon the tractor needs to be used go for a ride open throttle and let her run. Starting and running at low throttle never helps. I have a BN and a B FARMALL that heve been on tractor rides for many yrs with same plugs but they arent stopped and started just to show people how they run. Same with the B that mows lots of grass. They all burn 10% gasahol.

3116 should be fine. As Gene said, any plug can foul under some conditions. Don't let it idle very long. Better to shut it off and start asd needed. Try to keep it as hot as possible. If you show it much, this csn be hard. An occasional workout on a good load for an hour or so will do wonders too. I seldom have fouling problems on tractors that get worked, but ones that are used on light loads in the winter(hauling wood, etc.) cause some problems. Still 3116 is about as good as you can get.

All heat ranges have been moved up 2 steps with unleaded gas.My Ford 640 had new H10s when I bought it.Plug fouling was awful.H12s cured it but I found that prolonged idling can foul the H12s.Too many tractor owners have ignored the increase in heat range needed with unleaded gas.My tractor uses no oil so its not oil fouling.

I run Champion D21's and they don't carbon up at all. I use them in the 6/M/H/SMTA.

Welllllll, you say:

"lets keep it simple, don't need fifty guesses, just the facts [dragnet, lol] i like autolites....

Since youre NOT concerned with AM radio noise on your tractor and since (especially if a Magneto) you dont need to waste any energy in heat dissipation in a resistor plug, you would want a NON RESISTOR PLUG and below is what the Autolite application chart has to say

AUTOLITE 3116
Product Type
Non Resistor

Description
Loose Terminal Nut

Heat Range Chart Location
C20

Hex
7/8"

Reach
1/2"
Non Resistor

Seat
Gasket

Thread Diameter
18MM

HOWEVER any plug can gas and/or carbon or oil foul if shes an oil burner or the compression is low or youre running too rich remember

Sooooooooo my advice/opinion NOT fact is to keep the temperature up to at least 180 (T stats or radiator air restriction) ,,,,,,,,,,,Dont run the carb any richer then necessary,,,,,,,,,,,avoid long idle periods,,,,,,,,use a NON RESISTOR PLUG,,,,,,,,

thanks every-one...i know the org owner i bought it from, never really ran it long enough,,so i need to start with plugs and then adj carb...that will teach me not to check before going to a pull and get out-done by a 2-cyl..lol
