Oil brand used poll...

Just wondering what all brands are used/represented, any application. Myself I have used Cenex brand for years. SHON

Mostly Mobile products. Everyday gear grease and such is something cheap, usually Warren. I've got a local distributor for both that's really good. He's been telling good things about a company called DA lubricants out of Indy. I might start looking into them as well.

On the cars and Pickups I use Castrol or Valvoline, the heavy stuff and gear drives I like Shell, used them for years in Industry. When trouble shooting an engine life problem I told the manufacturer we where using shell and changing a XX hours, They replied well it's not oil, couldn't get that out of them when they had me using that red synthetic junk.

Up till a few years ago I would use Valvoline but then I found out the O'Reilly's brand oil is made by Valvoline so since it is a good bit cheap but yet the same stuff I use O'Reilly's brand most of the time

Bro-in-law is a Pennzoil distributor and gives me a big discount. I've been using nothing but Pennzoil for 40+ years. Not the first complaint.

Conklin Convoy 15-40 in the diesels and 5-20 or 5-30 in most of the others. 10-30 in lawn tractor, mowers, and my Oliver 66 pulling tractor. We sell mostly Shell and Mag in the shop.

I've used and seen used practically every oil on the market over the years, and I've seen the results inside the equipment from these in all types of service. For simplification I went to using mainly Quaker State 10W-30 in everything and Lucas stabilizer. I buy both at Wally World dirt cheap. I have 5 vehicles on the road right now and the car will the lowest mileage is a 95' Olds with the 3.1 engine at 140,000 miles. Knock on wood..no problems so far.

Quaker State in all the cars, trucks, &tractors. Viscosity per the makers spec. When I inspected the engine in my John Deere H after 25 years of use( used it on my farm the whole time) I couldn't find any measurable wear. Good enough for me. I use Kendall GT1 turbo oil in the air cooled engines.

John Deere in my tractors, TSC oil in my old trucks, Royal Purple synthetic in my new pick up.

I use shell 15-40 Rotella in all my trucks, tractors and garden tractors. Been useing it for around 40 years. Use Castrol GTX 10-30 in car.

That's a true statement! Tried it once in a Beretta with 50k on the od & 2,000 miles later she locked up. Somehow it turned to red grease & completely stopped up the filter housing. Never had to add a another drop of oil to that engine. lol

Live and learn.

This topic gets covered often. Everybody uses something different and no one is having any oil related problems. It suggests to me that all oil is good now days.

Super Tech from Walmart in the cars and truck. Travelers from Tractor Supply in the tractor engines. Hy-Tran from Case IH in the tractor transmission and hyd.

Well, I have been a AMSOIL dealer since 1972 so used to use it a lot.

Now I prefer using Rotella 15-40 in the diesels, and Castrol Syntec in the cars. Oil isn't all you need, a good filter is a must.

I won't tell you what to avoid, but instead will list my preferred filters.

Hastings is my favorite, especially the dual flow filter. Perfect combo to go well over 15K miles between changes on a car that gets driven a lot, like my mail route car.

Wix is more readily available, and less money. I trust them to at least 10K miles.

Fram, Bosch, and all the rest are still good filters that will work just fine with a 3K oil and filter change.

I use OEM filters on my IH1066, meaning Case-IH or at least Fleetguard. No aftermarket filters on it. DOUG

Local IH dealer has big spring sale on lube and filters, I buy years worth there for all 12 units with engines.

I use Shell Rotella 15W40 for the most part. Have used it for over 20 years. Used Kendall before that with no problems, but it got hard to get here so I switched. I have a Dresser TD9-H dozer that I have run Citgo 5W-40 for the last two years. Seems okay and I like it for winter start ability. On occasion it has to sit out a long way from power. I use Motorcraft oil in my two Fords. (20004 F150 & 2005 Escape).

shell Rotella-T 15-40 in everything. Because it's good and I get it for $10.00 for 5 gallons.

UltraMar UltraLube, Canadian Tire, Tech 2000 (Walmart), Esso XD3... Irving, NewHolland (FL Viscosity)
Whatever is handy.

I run AMSOIL in everything but the Case 800. It has straight 30W. Doesn't get enough hours a year to change it let alone put the AMSOIL in it.

Oil is one of those subjects like religion, politics and abortion that will get many folks talking.
