Curious if anyone out there that knows much about the tractor mentioned in my subject line? We are looking at this tractor for mainly brush hogging, and light dirt work. Does this tractor have a good reputation for being reliable? Does the 20 HP Diesel engine have enough horse power for what we are using for? Is $8,000 for the tractor, brushhog, front scoop, and blade a good price for a tractor with approx 1000 hrs? Your input is appreciated.

Thanks,

JMHO, but 8 grand is lotsa bucks, for a 20 HP tractor. Around here, that buys at least 35 HP 2wd, maybe 4wd, and a loader.

My neighbor has one in two wheel drive. I have raked hay with it, big enough to do that and to blade his driveway. To small to turn even a 5 ft bush hog if the fescue is rank! My son bought a 3120 JD (28 hp) it was to small for us. 5 ft tiller and a 6 ft cutter were to much, and it wouldn't pull itself up a hill in high range, kinda like driving a backhoe. Traded it for a 4320 JD 48 or 50 hp. This is a great little tractor. It will handle 4 by 5 bales good. Could use a little more power for a 6 ft bush hog. I would look at something with at least 30 hp 50 if you can afford it. PS: The hydro trans has ruined everyone that has driven it, for anything else. Vic

Since I'm farmimng & have an assortment of tractors, for dirt work & brush hogging I'd like to do a 5 foot hog and be able to moves some real dirt, so I would be looking for a 30 hp tractor. The 1320 is a good enough tractor, but pretty small.

I have a 1720 (27 hp) with loader & so forth & 5ft hog and a small dirt blade, I would not want any less tractor than that, some days a little more would be nice.

That Ford 1320 is only 17 PTO horse power. Way too small to do much real bush hogging with. You can take that $8000 and buy a utility tractor not a compact tractor. The utility tractor would be much more suited for what you are wanting to do. Those little compacts are hot property until you use one much. I am used to real tractors not toys. A small skid steer will out work the loader. A good garden tractor will out mow it. So I guess they are good for doing a whole bunch of jobs half A$$ed but none real well.

I have a 96 N/H 1715 and it is 27-HP 4WD and I wouldn't want one any smaller. But I have to trailer one 45 miles to farm with 3/4 ton PU on a 16' trailer. it weights in at 2200 dry. about 3000 lbs with tires loaded and 5' brush hog. and I gave $8000 for mine 6 years ago with 5' Kingkutter .

In my area that price would be somewhat on the high side for that small of a tractor.

I have a 1720 from the mid 1990s and agree with others that I wouldn't want a smaller one.

In the 1980s I owned a 1500. Way to under powered to be of much use. Expect there is however a vast difference between a 1500 and a 1520. Not sure how the 1320 would fit in for a comparison.
