looking for a old school VW trike plans or a trike

Hey Dave - in keeping with the tractor theme - how about one patterned like this? You've probably seen this before, and already rejected the idea. . . I kinda like it, but I'm kinda wierd, at least some folks think so.

think it is a neat idea. Would have to be a allis orange. I think I would need a lift to get the wife into that top seat. Was thinking of making a red C cab style out of a old sand rail I have laying in the weeds

I built one a long time ago, you can get by without plans. Cut everything off of the front of the torsion bar housing and attach a motorcycle frame to the housing. You will have to unwind some of the tension in the torsion springs because of the decreased weight. From the torsion bar housing to behind the engine you can make a body (mine had a bench seat) and a couple of fenders. I had to put a wheelie bar on mine because the front tire would leave the ground on takeoff.

I think I"d reverse the direction of that Surge milker bucket gas can, in case of a quick stop. Unless I wanted to switch choirs. Just sayin".........

Back in the day a VW trike was a nice thing but now days parts are few and far between and that is on a good day. You might want to look into a BMW trick and heaven help me a HD. Yep I hate HDs and will not own one

Is there still places that you can rent them? I remember folks renting them by the hour outside the Military bases I was stationed at. Be nice to have a real one to measure and take all the pics you want before starting...

Where you located Dave? Got a buddy that has one for sale. He built it, ran it a bunch, then later bought a GoldWing trike so this one is surplus to his needs.

South Central Illiniois area.
