O.T. Chev Lumina headlights

I had to drive after dark for the first time in a long time. This car has automatic headlights. I started the car and had no headlights. When I hit the dimmer switch the bright lights came on. I looked at my Chiltons book wiring diagram, and it looks to me like the problem must be the dimmer switch. Do you think it is this or something else?
Thanks, Roy

Unplug yer lights and check to see if 2 of the 3 connections have power, 3rd is a ground. Check both high and low. If ya got power you have burnt bulbs....no power most likely yer dimmer switch.

Everyone assumes when their low beams don't work that it's a circuit problem, not realizing they've been driving around for six months with one headlight out. Make sure you don't have two burned-out bulbs before you go further. Changing out the dimmer switch is not an easy job on most cars.
