86 Ford pickup.. I think I got it fixed.

Hey guys,

Some may remember the charging dilemma I was having with my 86 Ford truck about 2 weeks ago now..

It appears to be fixed.. after probing prodding and such, I decided it's charging, just not regulating as it should, so i bought a new regulator and problem seems to be fixed (for now)..

When I installed the regulator, I also added another ground wire from the mounting bolt of the regulator and ran it to a "extra" ground I installed from the battery to the inner firewall.

Before, my gauges in the dash would read funny sometimes as well.. (more often than not actually.. hard to describe, but the temp and fuel gauges would read "higher" than normal, and they would "rise" together) Since the new regulator, the temp gauge reads where it used to way back, and it don't climb rapidly when the lights/accessories are turned on.

Sounds like a solid fix to me Ground faults are troublesome, A friend had 20 amps flowing through the throttle cable (not good) added a third chassis ground and made it go away! Jim
