I was standing out in the yard today talking to the daughter, son in law and grandkids. I looked down and there was a live baby possum laying there. Just a little bigger than a newborn kitten. Looked around and there were 2 more, all alive. They all had their eyes open.
Never saw any abandoned like that before. Seems like if the dog had gotten the mother, the carcus would be here right close by since he's on a shock collar.
Anybody ever found any of'em abandoned that way before?
We took'em out by the fence by the edge of the pasture to at least give'em a sportin chance to get a little bigger.

Ya, they've got so many of'em they string'em everywhere. Found one in my trash barrel once. They drop off everywhere. Good thing they all don't live.

Are they a bigger problem than human beings.?
Notice how they are breeding and not having the food to sustain themselves. Can't say that for the possum.

I caught our cat rubbing noses with one the other night. He usually kisses skunks. If he is the father... I'm sorry. Send me the babies, or better yet, I'll send you the cat! Around here, they say game animals are state property. so, I call the state and see what they want to do with them. I knew a guy that made a pet out of one. It got so fat and lazy, it was more like a walrus. I think it had a heart attack from eating too much. If you guys feel sorry for them, give em a bowl of milk and dry cat or dog food, maybe the mom will come back tonight and get them.

Was walking the RR tracks with my brother when I was 6 or so and we came on a fresh run over possum that was cut in half. We had just moved from town and I hadn't seen but a couple in my life and didn't know about the pouch thing. He had me get it by the tail and move it away. When I did a bunch of babies like you are talking about scattered around and scared me silly for a minute.....Couple years later I found one that had 14 or so about the size of a bean. Put them in a little mustard jar of alcohol and had a ball with them at school.....

Hmmmm too many people with not enough to eat and too many possums in the neighborhood?? Do I see a possumble solution here <G> al

Inever ate possum, but Idid eat groundhog and racoon in the past, It was pretty good! The farmers wife had it in the crock pot and after I ate it he told me what it was, didnt bother me,It did taste good,

Jed Clampet always said the best thing about possum inards is that they're just as good the second day!

friend of mine ate possum. Walking over the hill one day he discovered a horrible smell, found a week-old dead horse. Possum crawled out of it & he never ate possum again.

Varmints! I got one a few weeks ago eating cat food that was bigger than a Beagle. It had 13 babies in its pouch. They will eat just about anything and spread diseases in the process.
