I liked his "Rest of the Stories", but some of his advertising claims were so blatantly phony anyone else would have been busted for false advertising.

Like his claim that Theragesic balm was totally odorless. I tried some and it smelled so bad I couldn"t use it.

Or his claim that someone had fixed the drawbar on a farm tractor with JB Weld umpteen years ago and it was still in use. JB Weld is good stuff and I use it all the time, but the drawbar on a 100 hp tractor? Gimme a break!

I once listened to his five minutes of morning news on the way to work, till I figured out it was four minutes of commercials and a token one minute of news.

He must have had another kind of Theragesic. My wife used some one night. Had to take a shower to get rid of the smell. But I did tune him everyday.

He just took news stories off the wire then made stuff up to embelish them.

Used to listen to Paul Harvey as a kid working on the farm. All the rural stations played his show. I always enjoyed his "news", but even then I couldn't stand the way he would segue into an advertisement like it was another news story.
