commen thoughts on this unless you are working the snot out of the tractor all the time, lead additive is not needed. on the other hand, fuel with ethanol in it is thought by some to be detrimental. Bill
 
Bob, they solved the problem of unleaded gas in engines by putting in hardened valve seats, yer 8N came with em from the factory! You only need lead additive in engines without the hard seats.

Well first off that lead additive does not even have any lead in it. All that stuff is is a snake oil that keeps a company in business and does nothing for the engine but does do one thing to/for you and that is remove $$ from your back pocket to pour in something that does no good. If you want to add something to your fuel that will help put in a pint of ATF in every other 5 gal of gas you put if. That will keep the valves lubed up and also help clean the carbon out of the engine

We had a new record going since somebody last asked that question on July 16th . Now we have to start over again.
 
Ever notice that since the mid 1980's. Gasoline vehicle engines are now lasting like only diesel and LP engines used to. A gasser with 300,000 miles that still runs good without excessive oil consumption is rather common.
b.t.w how much lead is there in diesel or LP fuel ?
Prior to the mid 1980's a gasser was a gasping oil burning clunk it it even made it to 100,000 miles?
Machine shops that used to rebuild worn out vehicle gasoline engines have very little business in that area any more.
Why? Lead has been removed from the gasoline and engines are computer controlled.

If your tractor has ever run on leaded fuel, it's already had all the lead treatment it needs. In the case of an overhaul, running a few gallons of 100LL avgas through it will repeat the treatment.
