I need a couple of boxes to put under my flatbed. I'm trying to decide between aluminum and steel. What would you recommend? Is there a brand/make that you would stay away from? Thanks for your input.

like everything else, made by x amount of company's with any ones loge on them,,,being said, in my opinion,,,depends on location you live in, climate, weather, etc, rust, salt from winter roads, load putting in boxes, weight, to decide what to get...

I"m in Michigan, so road salt and winter is a big concern. Most appear to be 12 guage steel, or aluminum. The prices seem to be quite varriable, but overall quality and features seem to all be the same.

we have them on our flat bed tow trucks and on the wrecker. all are steel boxes. before you install them, spray the sides and bottoms with bedliner, also do the insides. it keeps them from rusting out.

Thanks. I see the Mennards actually carries them pre-sprayed with Rhino lining. I'm going to check them out after work.

With steel or aluminum they will get water in them - do as Glennster said and If it was for me I would put one or two drain holes in the bottom first.

Try and find one without piano hinges. Find one where the door hinges with just a pin and bushing on the corners of the door. chris
