Some report come out saying alot of old crop out there, or record yeilds, lesss demand??? Was hoping for some $7.50 N/C on a few bushels to bring up the contracted average. Argh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think someone is playing games. Between the drought in the south, the flooding along the Missouri river, The hail storms and hurricanes, etc., The yield just isn't out there.

Typical drop in price before a long weekend. Nothing to worry about. This follows 3 days of near limit up trading. Once upon a time, $.30 one way or another would be HUGE news. With current prices and todays volitile market, not so much. It's hard to change old ways of thinking, but $.30 is 2011's version of a $.05 change 10 years ago. Get used to it. The thing is, with any commodity market these days, look at long term trends and don't sweat a one day rise/fall.

Now if it goes limit down 3 or 4 days in a row next week....then start thinking panic.

An old timer told me August is generally that way across the grain and live stock markets. I guess they are making the last guess to correct their past guess before the crop comes in.

I saw a story today on how a record harvest is still possible. I find it hard to believe with all the weather related issues in much of the country. Its hard to find a state anywhere in the country that hasn't had significant weather issues somewhere.

I am hoping we have enough to make contract. We should come out close with yields and insurance. I do not know if there will be a surplus for spot markets.

This is in east central Iowa.

Winter to Spring, 09-10....waited several times for corn to come up above 3 bucks, to sell at 3.25. Year and a half ago! Seriously- who will complain about today"s corn or bean price? Big crop? no- too much seed in more than MN was still in the bag on June 1! Clay ground, one county West of you....first day in the field was May 17- latest in over three decades.
