ComEd and electric suppliers

I live in illinois and get my electricty from ComEd. In the last couple of days I've got two letters from IGS energy and Direct energy offering 11% and 15% and a $50 VISA prepaid card to switch from ComEd. The power still comes from ComEd and everythings the same except where I pay the bill. IGS and Direct Energy are from Ohio. I don't get it, any body else getting these offers and changing suppliers.

I've gotten 2 letters from my REC wanting me to change suppliers. They're not saying how much I might save. Just a 2 year contract. Makes me wonder, paying $.15 per KWH now.

Something to think about---if your electricity goes off who does the repairs? ConEd or ComEd will of course since they are the ultimate supplier.

Will they be quite as willing to get yours back on if you are buying through someone else? In the middle of the night----don't call us, call your supplier.
