How should soybean pods look at this stage (here)?

Planted 1.4's. Still very dark green, TALL, one feild is all over my waist and I am 6'1", I do not have the 4 and 5 bean pods like I did last year, same genetics, but it seems like the beans are awful small, flat. We did have adequate moisture, 5 day forecast is wet cool, then dry and high 60's for the 6-10 day forecast. Am I gonna get in trouble? Seems like the pods should be developed and plant's yellowing by now. Think they were planted late may if I have my facts straight. .8's that were planted the same day look the same.

Soybeans will take the forecast you are talking better than the corn. It's going to be interesting as the crops here are weeks behind normal. They are talking 80 or more as the high through Friday then early next week getting up to the low 70's. I think here guys with beans will be alright other than guys that planted right at the end of June. I was upset not getting much corn in but maybe that will work out for the best.

The pods may be smaller but there may be more of them. I have never seen 5 bean pods. A seed company was collecting 4 bean pods to plant the seeds to see if they would increase yield by planting only the beans from 4 seed pods a year or 2 ago. I wonder how that test turned out??

Our beans here in SE Iowa still have the flat pods as well but we haven"t had a rain in 6 weeks. Very Dry.

It is still August and the beans will fill out Dave.

The plants are still setting pods if you have moisture. When they quit setting pods then they will fill out. Ours are waiting for moisture to fill.
