posted this on the crawler forum but didnt get any responses, so figured i'd give it a shot here. local implement dealer has this sitting on his lot. 2700 hours on it. looking for a machine to work in sandy gravel-y and occassionally mucky creek beds to remove sandbars. skid steer sinks down too much and sits on its belly. cant get a excavator in the area due to timber stands. will this work and any idea on the value ? heres a couple pics

hydrostatic 4 wd with an 85 hp deutz diesel in it. has a quick attach for most any loader buckets, this one has a high capacity bucket and a set of forks with it. it is an articulated loader.

Glenster our Coop has two of them for loading fertilizer in the mix shed.

They are a good machine for hard surfaces but but much good in mud. Maybe softer deeper barred tires would help.

I think you would be better off with a small dozer with wide tracks.

We have one here at work, great machine but I wouldn't take it off of a pretty firm surface. Ours weighs 6700 pounds and would be a real pig ini the mud and sand.

It"s an articulated machine so you can"t use tracks. Skid loader with tracks would be much better- good flotation, and if you get stuck, you should still be able to push yourself back and out. If you can"t get an excavator in, how about a "Gradall"?

We have an older model 1988 orange in color. For the work you want it to do this is not the machine. I"ve had ours stuck in cat tails and they are a "B" to pull out. They also hold their value really well. This looks like an expensive machine.

Don't be deceived by those fat little tires. They won't float. A fellow I know got one to clean up around the dryer and bins site and it worked ,sort of,On soft ground it would bog down and usually the kid running it would steer right and then steer left and then it was totally bogged down. hard to pull a dead weight out of soft ground. I would not take one of these down into a creek bottom to do some sand bar clean up.Not at all.Bucket is too large for off concrete use. JH
