jd 48inch mower deck

does any body have a good deatiled diagrams of what a jd 48 deck would look like or could somebody take a pic of theres with the cover off so i can put one togehter. my 46 icnh deck is 100% shot. i have a complete shell of a 48 inch deck with some stuff already on it. its a lot more complex than my 46inch and i might need some extra parts so if anybody that has a junk 48inch deck that they would like to sell parts off let me know. thanks. i really need a pic or a good diagram though. thanks again.

JD made a few different 48 inch decks over the years for there tractors.... not all were even close to identical.

You can search JD web site in the parts diagrams, as well as the tune up guide stuff and find pictures of most of the decks. The parts diagrams, while not good color pictures, might show you enough to figure out what you need to know.

my deck would got to a 317. late 80s model deck. here is a pic of what it somewht looks like but i still cant see a whole lot.

Just to clarify... the decks for a 140, 317, etc. were MODEL 48, but called (by DEERE) 46" CUT units.

all i have is the serial numbers. it dont say on either deck how wide it is. ive meassured the width of the cut and got 46 and 48 unless it is 48 and 50. all the mowerdecks were interchangeable. i just need to know what i need to get and how to put it backtogether.

What parts are you needing?

To determine which mower you have, measure the BLADES. The model "48" uses 3 - 16.094" blades. The center and LH blades overlap one inch and the center and RH blades overlap one inch, giving a 46" cut.

The 50 inch mower uses longer blades, 17.315".

For part number lookup and parts diagrams, go to jdparts.com, and open the parts catalog, and under "Catalog Number Search", enter "1069" to view the parts catalog for the Model 48 mower, or "1959" to view the parts catalog for the 50" mower.

If you have any more questions, post back or email me. I have several each of these mowers and SHOULD be able to answer any other questions you may have.
