oil pressure???

Hey folks,
last week or so the oil light has been flickering on my little tractor. Stays on sometimes at idle and goes off when reved a little. Gets worse as the engine gets hot. Oil level is full. Could it be the sending unit going out or something worse. Sending unit looks to be original and the tractor is a 1964 model. I think I have a manual gauge somewhere, how much pressure should I have? Engine info is under my handle in modern view...

Thanks, Dave

oil pressure depends on the type and brand of engine,so it would be hard to say how much it should have.but sounds like bearings are getting worn opening up clearances.Ive found a guage in that case just scares you!LOL

Rod & main bearings replaced just over a year ago. Oil pump would either work or not work wouldn't it?? Prolly quicker to go get a new sending unit on monday than find my gauge  .........

Starting to get aggravated with this thing.....It's a real jewel, but the little things just get on my nerves. Part of it is probably the idea that I have an oportunity to trade up to the next generation and 16HP with no out of pocket duckies.....

On my Ford 641 the oil pickup is in a screen attached to the drain plug. I had low/zero oil pressure once due to a plugged screen. Also ran the tube on a spray can up the pickup pipe and flushed it out.

Don't know just how the pressure measuring system works on your tractor works but, I would pull the sensing unit and make sure someting hasn 't plugged it up. If is a remote sensor check the line to the pressure sensing unit. A frend had a problem with his 8N that did the same thing as yours and found the pressure line was plugged.
